Our Story

AmeriCap Advisers was founded by Nadia Albert who had previously served as a Vice President at Citibank and at a registered investment advisory firm. Her goal was to create a company which consisted of seasoned professionals who enjoyed working together for the benefit of their clients.

Nadia assembled a highly experienced team, consisting of Michael Gayed, Carlos Mercado, and Steve Shobin. Nadia, Michael and Steve met over 20 years ago, when the latter two worked closely at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. While taking separate career paths until 2000, the team maintained a strong business relationship, sharing similar investment philosophies.

Carlos Mercado has been a close acquaintance of the team members since the early 1990s. Carlos met them when he worked at the Seagram Company, where he was responsible for corporate finance and pension issues including manager selection and monitoring for the company pension fund. His experience and knowledge from the sponsor side brings a deep understanding of what our clients want from their managers.

With the team in place, AmeriCap Advisers began its journey to meet the challenges of one of the worst bear markets of our generation and prove it could provide competitive returns for its clients.
